Patrick Troughton – A Pebble Mill Interview

Apparently the current Doctor, Matt Smith, in his research for the part admired Patrick Troughton’s portrayal of the role.  Though not mimicking it, it is good to know that Smith knows the importance of the heritage of the role and how different characterisations influence those to come.

This is a fascinating insight into Troughton from 1973 apparently.  It’s fascinating not to know him, but to see what he does so that you don’t know him and how that must be help when it comes to inhabiting different roles, and how it could make him out to be a most private person.  (It’s also worth comparing this interview with one he would do later on in his life.) Enjoy.
