Auditioning for Optimus Prime

Posted on Updated on

I used to watch Transformers – the cartoon. I think I was into it. Certainly remembered that opening theme tune and Optimus Prime. So it was cool coming across this story of how the voice for Prime happened.

Be strong enough to be gentle. Good advice.

Enjoy

Top 10 Sesame Street Songs – WatchMojo

Sesame Street. Arguably the greatest educational tool of my life. The songs helped a great deal. You don’t have to agree with the order, you just have to love remembering the songs themselves. Good times.

Enjoy.

Another Day – Paul McCartney

Posted on Updated on

This is the first Paul McCartney song I remember listening to. I realise now that it was the first single he released following his splitting from some pop group that did well in the 1960’s.  I only heard it in the early 1990’s and had no idea where and when it was written.  All I knew was that this was a sweet tune.

Since then I got into the Beatles (apparently they did well in the 1960’s) and of the four the one I preferred was the man who is now Sir Paul McCartney.  The interest has had its ebbs and flows, but I respect the brother’s achievements and a song like this is an outstanding example of why he is such a brilliant singer and songwriter.  Expect to hear one or two more tunes from him on the blog in coming weeks.

Bobby Davro Was Funny

Posted on Updated on

[The following video contains a depiction of Thomas the Tank Engine that fans of the show may find upsetting.]

I genuinely haven’t heard anything funny from Bobby Davro in years.  Now of course he’s got some degree of media spotlight on him and some air-time, but I’ve not really paid too much attention to that at all.

I remember Davro from the late 80’s and early ’90’s.  There was a comedian showcase programme called Copycats and he was one of the top dons in that programme.

I didn’t really watch his solo show, I just thought he was a funny guy then.  Still, times change, eh? Enjoy.

Martin OnFire – Rugby League – What’s That All About?

Posted on Updated on

Most of the sporting posts on this blog revolve around football, chiefly because I love football.  It’s a game that is true to its title.  It involves a ball and predominantly played with the foot.  American Football is obviously ridiculous as the ‘ball’ is in your hands most of the time.  At least Rugby had the decency to call itself football after the rugby deal and always knew that real football was what some have sadly referred to as soccer.

I liked rugby and was interested in watching one of those Time Of Our Lives nostalgia programmes that focussed on the success of Wigan Rugby League Club.  I remember when I became aware of Rugby League, Wigan were just the dominant force for years.  My mate was a Leeds fan, so I didn’t say anything in his company, but just as I was a glory hunter in football, my affiliation in the League code was for the champs.

Videos like this of Martin Offiah scoring from his own defensive area, reminds me of why I had admiration for rugby players.

It’s not football, but it’s not bad. Enjoy.
