In The Stone – Bill Champlin

A song for Saturday and what I love about some of the cool, groovy songs of the day that were sung by black artists is that they were written and produced by white dudes. Just in case I wanted to get all up in someone’s faces about integration not working out then there is proof of it working a treat.  Take for example this classic Earth, Wind and Fire hit – In The Stone.  Oh you remember it and if you don’t you can remind yourself here.

Apparently the maestro David Foster known for his production and songwriting for a glittering array of artists was responsible for putting this bad boy.  So in a celebration of his work he gets to remix the thing and what an inspired choice to lead sing it but a hugely underrated member of the music fraternity Mr. Bill Champlin who has done some things with Foster including co-writing the EWF classic After The Love Has Gone (and you can remind yourself of that here as well). Glorious combination reliving a glorious song. Enjoy.
