Last Friday England secured their place in the 2012 European Championships by gaining the one point needed away to Montenegro. Before the match many had predicted that England would win the match, especially as the home side had decided to rest a few players for their next match as they were risks being on yellow cards. In that match Wayne Rooney was sent off for a petulant swipe at a player and England who had been two goals up within half an hour were pegged back to the draw. Understandably, some were disappointed by this state of affairs.
The reaction in some corners of the media, however, reflected the no-win situation that Capello finds himself in. It’s interesting to review how exactly he got to that position, if it’s fair and what is realistic to expect from England.
