What She Believed In

My life will be indelibly marked by the government led by Margaret Thatcher from 1979 to 1990.  These were my formative years and much of what I know culturally is heavily influenced by reactions and consequences of what her government implemented.  I used to virulently hate the woman – despite the fact I didn’t actually know her (still don’t), but with children and rolling years the word ‘hate’ is reserved for more important issues.  I hate injustice, for example, and I’m not convinced she did enough to combat the social injustice.  Yet the bottom line remains, she impacted the country arguably more than any other leader of the country since Churchill.  Her shadow even influenced the Blair government that was looking to beat her record of years in government.  She stood for what she believed in, which apparently should be a noble characteristic, but …
