Let me be honest. For a long time I associated Barry Manilow with cheesy schmaltzy music. He was an enemy of quality music and any oppportunity to belittle him was grabbed with both hands. Thankfully I did grow up after that. Sure some of his tracks are cheesy, but apparently people love them some cheese, so credit to the guy. Yet as well as the cheese there are some genuinely well crafted musical pieces of greatness. This track is one of them and to hear him speak of it as well is simply fascinating, from the bit that we know gets us when we hear it, to the abomination it could have become if it was further poppified. It is a great track. I have lot more time for Barry now. Enjoy.
